1. Signing in to Microsoft Power Apps

When you use Microsoft Power Apps for the first time, you need to sign in to this tool. Just go to visit this site – make.powerapps.com. Then, input your user account (xyz@bclnig.com) and password to login into the website.

If you are already signed to another application within Microsoft365 suite, the Power Apps screen to enter your user account and password will be automatically skipped.

2. Launching the Employee Leave App

After signing in to Microsoft Power Apps, the interface of the website shows a list (among other things) of applications that has been shared with your user account (xyz@bclnig.com).

The Employee Leave App will be among the list of these applications. Click on the play button to launch the app.

3. Identify Yourself with your Employee ID

After launching the Employee Leave App, enter your employee ID and click continue.

After successful login, the application navigates to “My Leave Requests” screen.  This screen shows a list of all the requests you’ve made so far with the application.

Note: Within the database of the application, every employee ID is bound to the user account (xyz@bclnig.com) that the user has access to for receiving and responding to emails within the organization.

If you receive the error message “Wrong EmployeeID or Microsoft Credentials” while signing in to the application, it means your entered a wrong EmployeeID or the EmployeeID was not bound to the user account from which you launched the application.

4. The Leave App Interface and Screens/pages

The Leave app has 4 screens and the interface of each screen has a Header, Sidebar and Content.

My Leave Request” Screen –  shows a history of all your leave requests registered on the app. The page will be blank if you have none.

My Leave Balance” Screen – This screen shows the leave balances for all the type of leaves an employee is entitled to. Most of the time, your leave request will be from the “Annual” leave type.

Public Holidays” Screen – This screen shows a list of the company’s paid holidays during which the head office and sites will be closed for observance.

New Request” – This screen contains the form to be filled by an employee requesting for a leave. You can access this screen from the menu or the “New Request” button at the top-right corner of other screens.

The type of form to be filled by an employee depends on the employee’s location (Head office or Operations). This has already been pre-determined in every employee details in the database.

The screen (and form) to be filled by an employee in the head office is shown below.

The screen (and form) to be filled by an employee in Operations is shown below.

5. Submitting your leave request

To submit a leave request, navigate to the “New Request Page”, through the menu link. Fill in the form details and click the submit button.

Note that the total days is automatically calculated as the total number of working days between the start date and end date.

6. The Automation Construct behind the scene

After submitting your leave request, an automation construct behind the scene will send an email automatically to the selected approver (line manager whom you sent your request to for approval) for approval.

The approver  will either approve or reject your leave request as shown below.

You will receive an email notification confirming that your requested leave was either approved or rejected.

You can also refresh the app screen to check the status of your requested leave.

7. Exiting the Leave App and Microsoft Power Apps

Click on “Exit App” link to exit the Leave app and navigate to the power apps home screen. Close the tab in the browser
